Save Gmail Messages to Google Drive in a .pdf Format using App Script

When I found the app script from Marcello Scacchetti that saves your email to your Google Drive account I was elated!  My husband receives tons of purchase orders by email from his customers.

I was very disappointed in the way the App Script saves the email on the Google Drive account:

Google Drive
  > Folder "Email Archive"
     >> Folder "Email1 Message Date + Sender +Subject +ID"
          >>> Email1 Message Date+Sender+Subject+ID.pdf
     >>Folder "Email 2 Message Date+Sender+Subject+ID"
          >>>Email2 Message Date+Sender+Subject+ID.pdf

Each email is saved within its own folder within the base folder.  This useful App Script proved to be fairly useless if I have to move each email out of a folder.  It took some time but I was finally able to rewrite the script to save email messages to my drive account is a more organized fashion for my taste.

Candy's App Script saves GMail messages like this:

Google Drive
>My Email
     >Email1 Message Subject.pdf
     >Email2 Message Subject.pdf
If you aren't familiar with Apps Script, it's okay.  All you need to do is open my Google Spreadsheet (the app script has already been added) and copy it onto your Google Drive account.  Then follow the steps in Marcello Scacchetti's blog since he does an excellent job of walking you through the steps.  I might add a walk through myself at a later time.

Hope Y'all Find This App Script Helpful!

Thank you to Marcello Scacchetti for the original script

Resources for Music Artist

My 14 year old daughter is passionate about music. She plays guitar, writes songs & sings. At $0.90/minute for her weekly music lessons with a Berkley graduate, there isn't any money left over for the super tech software she needs to compete with today's artist. So I set out to find all the music tools out there, and their free/inexpensive alternatives.

Subway's Birthday Cookies

I fell in love with Subway's Birthday Cookies and set out to make my own.  I modified a Trisha Yearwood recipe and it was a success!

Weeknight Dinners

I have listed dinner "concepts" here.  I call them "concepts" because I have listed specific instructions. If there is enough interest, I will add specifics.

Baked Potato Rounds

On a greased baking pan, cover sliced pre-baked potatoes with shredded cheese, real-bacon bits, and chopped green onions (conveniently pre-cut & freezer stored in a reused  16 oz. water bottle), and any other toppings you like.  Bake them on 350ᵒ F until the cheese is melted.  Add sour cream if your heart desires.
*I will update the time & add a picture the next time I make these.

Mexican Pizza

Fry ground beef and tortillas. Add ground beef and mashed pinto beans/black beans to top of 1 tortilla.  Add another tortilla.  Top with salsa, Mexican blend cheese, diced tomatoes and green onions  (conveniently pre-cut & freezer stored in a reused water bottle).  Bake on 350ᵒ F until cheese is melted.
*I will update the time & add a picture the next time I make these.

For my picky sons, add ranch, ground beef and cheese to the top only.

BBQ Turn-Overs

Roast a pork shoulder using McCormick BBQ Slow Roaster seasoning pack as directed.  When done remove excess fat from the shoulder.  Break it up using a large fork.  Add your favorite BBQ sauce.  Roll out crescent rolls into squares (two triangles) and drop the BBQ onto one side of the square.  Wrap the remaining dough over the BBQ and seal the edges gently with your fingers.  Be bake for 20 minutes at temperature directed on the crescent roll package.
*I will update the time & add a picture the next time I make these.

Christmas Gift Idea: Upgrade Your Memories

Here's a priceless holiday gift idea!

Have your precious memories recorded on older and out-dated media transferred to DVD or Blue-Ray.

A long time ago in a land far, far away...okay, so it was only a little over twenty years ago when the majority of home photos and videos were recorded on film.  It does, however, seem like film's wide popularity thrived over an eon ago.  Film, remember that thin strip of plastic, has a limited shelf life of only 10-20 years before it fades and eventually breaks down into worthless attic clutter.  It wasn't until I stumbled upon Walmart's Transfer to DVD service that I realized my childhood memories were degrading as I type.
Ten years ago my parents purchased a top-notch computer that showcased its ability to retrieve VHS footage and burn it to a DVD.  The technology was impressive and we quickly began discussing our plans to transfer our VHS collections, including the professionally filmed video of my wedding, to DVD.  As of today, we have never created a single DVD from a VHS (including the deteriorating video of my wedding).  Transferring film to a digital format is tedious and time consuming, and folks just don't have the time to do it.
Walmart's Transfer to DVD service is not a new technology or anything we can't do ourselves, but it is a convenient service at a fair price averaging $19.00 for each type of digital format.  So if you're stumped on a gift idea (jinx the family member who seems to have everything) here you go!  For $20 bucks you can preserve memories in a digital format forever, or at least until the next media innovation anyway.

Order Deadline is Dec. 3rd to receive your DVD by Christmas

DIY Subway's Birthday Party Cookie

Picture from brandeating.com

I fell in love with Subway's Birthday Party Cookie.  No, it doesn't taste like birthday cake.  It's a special berries & white chocolate cookie they whipped up to celebrate their 47th birthday.  I set out to make them myself and I succeeded in my opinion.  Try the recipe yourself under "Sweets".
